Eyebrow threading is a great choice for hair removal because the results give you a more natural, defined shape than with eyebrow tweezing or waxing and the results are long-lasting – up to 3 weeks! This ancient hair removal technique is extremely accurate and can be done in as little as 20 minutes. It’s also such a gentle procedure that it’s the best choice for those with sensitive skin.
IS THREADING PAINFUL?
As with any hair removal treatment there can be some discomfort, and pain thresholds are variable. But the majority of our customers find eyebrow threading to be virtually pain free (especially when compared to other hair removal options!). Comments typically range from “it wasn’t so bad” to “that was almost relaxing”!
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?
Eyebrow threading is incredibly precise and gives a more perfect arch to your brow than with tweezing or waxing. It gives you a longer-lasting look because threading removes the whole follicle (unlike tweezing, which can break hairs and leave the root intact). The more frequently you use threading for hair removal, the longer the results will last.
TIPS FOR THREADING AFTERCARE
Before bed on the day of your appointment, be sure to wash your face thoroughly and gently to ensure your pores are clean.
For 24 hours after your appointment, avoid any harsh or perfumed products around the threaded area. These could cause irritation and discomfort.
For 2 full days after your threading appointment, do not exfoliate the affected area. After this, however, you can resume your regular beauty routine and exfoliate regularly.
EYEBROW & EYELASH TINTING
If you’re looking for a fuss-free way to enhance the natural wow factor of your brows and lashes, eyebrow and eyelash tinting gives long-lasting, luscious definition for up to 6 weeks. It’s a great option for busy gals and jet-setters who want perfect, low maintenance definition (no more brow pencils or mascara!) around the clock.
TINTING: HOW IT WORKS
Tinting easily streamlines your facial beauty routine by eliminating the need for defining your lashes and brows while you try to achieve symmetry with makeup. We’ll get you reclined comfortably and your eyes well-protected before applying vegetable-based dye to your brows or lashes. You can trust our professionals to skillfully apply those natural, even tones you wish Mother Nature had given to you!
DOES TINTING INVOLVE HARMFUL CHEMICALS?
At Blink Brow Bar, we use all natural dyes and cotton pads to protect the delicate eye area (and no harmful products means no worries about what will come into contact with your skin of course!). You’re in safe hands with our expertly trained technicians. Natural dyes typically last from 4 to 6 weeks, but results vary depending on your hair type and the kinds of activities you do.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?
Tinting your lashes and brows gives you that made-up look as soon as you get out of bed. And while your look is make-up free, tinting is waterproof and beautifully defined. Tinting boosts your features and gets them noticed, which is why it’s very popular especially for those with fair hair and eyelashes. Essentially it makes your daily beauty regime effortless, flawless, and ready for anything!
TIPS FOR TINTING AFTERCARE
For at least 24 hours after your tinting appointment, do not use any make-up products on or around the affected area. (Though generally make-up isn’t needed with tinting, some can’t resist a little extra embellishment.)
For 24 hours after your appointment, keep your face dry. If you get your face wet or use cleansing products it could diminish the effect of the tinting.
Further, for 24 hours after your tinting, you should not go swimming or sunbathing, nor should you use a sauna or sun bed. These activities can fade the tint, and prevent it from lasting as long.
Avoid touching or rubbing your eyes/brows – the less you touch them the longer the treatment will last.
Avoid using strong soaps and face washes or oily moisturizers around the tinted area for a longer lasting effect.
WAXING (LADIES ONLY)
gives you a satisfyingly silky smooth finish that lasts up to 3 weeks – without the imperfections of cuts and nicks from razors. At Blink we offer both full-body and facial waxing. For optimal results, the hair should be around 1/4 inch long before your appointment. Bonus: With regular waxing you can take shaving out of the equation for good because over time the hair stops growing back. That’s great news for your skin and your schedule!
WHAT CAN I DO TO MINIMIZE THE PAIN?
As with all hair removal, waxing can cause some discomfort. If you’re worried about pain, you can take an Aspirin or Ibuprofen 30-45 minutes before your appointment. Avoid sunbathing, tanning, and any kind of skin peel treatments for at least 24 hours before you get waxed, and talk to your technician if you’re taking any medication that could make your skin a little more sensitive than usual.
TIPS FOR WAXING AFTERCARE
When you leave your waxing appointment, make sure you’ve got light, loose clothing to wear the rest of the day to avoid irritation and ingrown hairs.
In the next 24 hours, if you’re still feeling tender where you were waxed you can try gently applying a little rosewater to soothe the area.
For the first few days after your wax, don’t use any perfumed products on or near the area you had waxed.
Microblading gives your brows semi-permanent colouring that lasts for up to a year. This procedure is ideal to fill in your brows, even if you’ve over-plucked, have naturally light or faint brows, or have lost your eyebrows for health reasons. Our skilled eyebrow technicians use a special blade with tiny needles to carefully etch tiny lines of carefully mixed colours to give your brows that completely natural look. Imagine: no maintenance or make-up for many, many months!
IS MICROBLADING PAINFUL?
Just like other hair removal options, microblading is not without some discomfort. While everyone’s pain tolerance varies, most of our clients tell us it’s way better than what they anticipated. Most say it’s more uncomfortable than painful and there are always women who say it didn’t hurt at all. Honestly we get more comments about the scratching noise the microblading tool makes than any feedback about the way the procedure feels.
TIPS FOR MICROBLADING AFTERCARE
For the first 5-7 days after your microblading procedure, don’t use any water, soap, lotion, or makeup on or near your eyebrow area and try not to rub your brows. Be careful to keep the water off your face if you shower (baths might be a better option!).
After 5-7 days, gently apply the post-care cream sparingly with clean hands and a clean cotton swab before you go to bed. Continue to apply the ointment nightly for 7 days.
For a full 14 days after your microblading procedure, you’ll want to avoid aggravating your skin as it heals, which could cause complications. It’s advisable to avoid the following activities:
– Sports or any activits that causes you to perspire profusely
– Hot baths or showers
– Sauna or hot tub/Jacuzzi
– Sun tanning, salon tanning, or spray tanning
– UV/UVA rays or chemicals, which may cause premature fading
– Laser or chemical treatments or peelings
– Creams containing Retin A or Glycolic Acid
– Drinking alcohol in excess (which can slow the healing process)
– Performing any indoor or outdoor tasks that generate airborne debris that could contaminate the healing area (for example, heavy housecleaning or yard work)
– Driving in open-air vehicles, such as convertibles, boats, bicycles, or motorcycles
– Picking, peeling, or scratching the micro-pigmented area, which could scar the area or remove the pigment
– Touching the brow area, with the exception of gently applying the post-care cream with a cotton swab
If you experience any unexpected problems with healing, please contact Blink Brow Bar immediately to discuss further instructions.
And most importantly: contact a physician if you develop any of the following symptoms: fever or elevated body temperature, redness at the site, swelling or tenderness, red streaks that radiate from the site towards your heart, and any green/yellow discharge that is foul in odor.
